A simpler way to get the important things in life organised.

Life is easier when the important things are in good order.

In Good Order is a practical planning platform that helps individuals and families organise important information, decisions and arrangements for the future.

It has been created to help you think ahead, have the conversations that matter, and bring together the information, wishes and practical details that can otherwise be difficult to know where to start.

Whether you’re planning for yourself, helping your parents, organising things as a couple or family, or simply wanting to feel more prepared for whatever comes next, In Good Order provides a clearer way forward.

Plan ahead. Get organised. Feel more prepared.

You don’t need to have everything sorted today.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing where to begin. In Good Order helps turn a large and sometimes overwhelming subject into a series of manageable steps.

Why In Good Order?

The best time to have important conversations is before they become urgent.

Most of us know there are things we should probably organise — important documents, family information, financial and legal arrangements, care preferences, key contacts, household details and the wishes we want others to understand.

The challenge is knowing where to begin.

In Good Order has been created to make that process easier. We help you identify what is already sorted, what may still need attention, and the practical next steps you can take — at your own pace and in a way that works for you and the people around you.

It’s not about expecting the worst. It’s about making life easier by being better prepared.

I'm a co-founder of In Good Order, the Australasian service helping families get their affairs sorted before they need to be.

After six years in corporate, I spent more than twenty years in family business working alongside my father, and more recently have led a national trade association as its chief executive. I've done the work from the ground up, and worked closely with family and with other family businesses.

Then our world changed with no warning at all. Unable to trade through a tough economic environment, we made the hard decision to put the business into receivership after nearly forty years. It was my father's life's work outside his immediate family, and losing it threw him completely. I believe it fast-tracked his failing health.

Everything came at once after that. Unwinding a business. Finding a retirement village and moving my parents in earlier than any of us had planned — they're settled there now, and well looked after. Decluttering the family home, selling it, settling it. All while grieving a forty-year business and being out of a job myself.

There was no guide for any of it. I pulled the tasks together as I went and, by default, found myself writing The Top Drawer as I turned every corner. Had even half of it existed beforehand, we'd have made those decisions with far clearer heads.

I'm a co-founder of In Good Order, and after more than thirty years working for some of the world's top companies, I'm delighted to be back home doing this work for families across Australia and New Zealand as a Co-Founder of In Good Order.

We spend so much time on our work and the daily grind that we rarely stop to get our own affairs in order. I know, because I thought I had.

For the past three years I've been helping my parents prepare for whatever might change — health, home, safety, lifestyle. We had years of warning. When rest home care was finally decided, the simplest things turned out to be the hardest. We thought our information was reasonably organised. It clearly wasn't. I spent countless hours hunting for documents instead of spending that time with the people who mattered. Finding trusted services and suppliers to support a change that size was daunting.

As a family, we didn't know what was missing. That's the part that stays with me — not that we were disorganised, but that we couldn't have told you what we didn't have. If The Top Drawer had existed, we could have worked through it in stages, in our own time, and had everything ready that I now know we needed.
